The Canadiens have delivered success and dominance more often than any sports franchise in history. But with the Canadiens out of the Stanley Cup picture for over 12 years, the Bell Centre is long overdue for a champion and itchy fans are looking for their Canadiens ticket to deliver the goods soon.
This season, the team has continually tried to improve their squad, acquiring New York Islander James Wisniewski from the Islanders for a compensatory 2012 second-round draft pick. Wisniewski has 21 points in the last 32 games with the Islanders.
The team has had its share of early injuries. Defenceman Andre Markov suffered a season ending knee injury and had to have reconstructive surgery. Defenceman Josh Gorges is listed as day to day and Left Wing Travis Moen is still out with the flu.
